Raw Entrepreneurship #2: The “Asking for Help” Edition

Inspired by Brené Brown’s take on vulnerability as a superpower, I’m getting raw about something that still makes me squirm: asking for help. 😅
Delegation? I’ve got that down (ask my husband ❤️). But asking for help—especially while bootstrapping FemFoundry—has been a new muscle to flex.
Recently, I contacted some fantastic entrepreneurs to join me in a FemFoundry pre-launch initiative. Even though I know them well, I thought: Am I asking too much? Will they feel obligated? What if they say no?
But here’s the reality: I haven't had any no's. Not one. (Yet!)
This got me reflecting on why some (including myself!) may feel awkward asking for help. I found a great article in the Stanford Report: "Asking for help is hard, but people want to help more than we realize." 💡 My key takeaways:
- People want to help more than we think.
- Asking for help doesn't make you look weak.
- Helping brings people closer.
- Most help only happens after a request.
- Culture makes asking more complicated than it should be.
It's not like I don't know these findings to be 100% true; I just needed to remind myself and frankly get out of my own head. 🧠
I’m challenging myself to ask for help once a week—big or small. Starting now:
❓Can you help me spread the word about FemFoundry?
If you know a female business owner or non-profit founder, would you tell her we’re launching this fall? There'll be an incredible community for her at FemFoundry, whether she’s just starting or scaling.

I'm still slightly nervous about asking, but know this is an important step! I'm grateful for your help! 💛
